What’s Different About A Cooperative?

SLECA Reports To You

An electric cooperative is a non-profit corporation that is jointly owned by all of its members; it charges only as much as necessary to cover its operation cost. Other than that, your cooperative is much like any other business — providing an important product and the services to support it.

SLECA is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Directors are members, not employees, of the cooperative and are elected by you for 3 year terms at meetings held in each district.

Each year, SLECA mails to all members a notice of the cooperative’s annual business meeting held in April.

This is your opportunity to meet your directors and get involved in the business of SLECA while enjoying an evening of food, fun & fellowship. We encourage you to participate.

In addition, the cooperative mails its monthly magazine, Louisiana Country, to all its members. Louisiana Country is a publication of statewide interest to electric cooperative members. The two center pages communicate local items of interest to SLECA members and the cover story is always a local interest story.
